- Today Feels Like Going Home
-
by Nathan McClain

for Amy

Apparently, it holds grudges--gathers the sky
like scattered Lego blocks and stuffs

the horizon, as if today didn't feel like sharing
anymore. As if it wanted to hoard its leaves

and be selfish. All because you forgot to return
the flowers you borrowed yesterday. But who knew

today was so jealous? It stands behind
a set of iron curtains with its ball of sunlight.

It doesn't listen to your explanation.
It plugs its ears with thunder.
